Jamaican Learners Application Form Code Recognition Test

Persons wishing to obtain a Learners Licence will now first have to visit any of the Island Traffic Authority (ITA) Examination Depots to do the multiple choice Road Code Test, as part of the application process.

Until further notice, resits will be without charge to the applicant.

However, anyone renewing a Provisional Drivers Licence thereafter will have to first visit an Examination Depot to sit the Road Code Test.

Therefore, although the Portmore Tax Office will be open on Saturday, January 25, 2020, it will not be processing applications for Provisional Drivers Licence.

Two passport size photographs (signed by a JP, Minister of Religion, or Superintendent of Police).

Identification (national ID, Birth certificate,or passport) Fee: 1,800.

Application: Bring all required documents to the nearest Tax Office.

Complete application form, hand it in with the two passport size photos, do reading test and road code recognition test at examination depot.

Three passport size photographs (certified by a JP, or a minister of religion) Learners Licence.

Drivers Licence Application form (certified by a JP, and if General Drivers licence application, medical doctor).

Drivers Licence Examination fee (paid at nearest Tax office, where you will receive a receipt).

Application: Visit the Examination Depot (with all the above documents) to receive an appointment.

Return to the Depot on the appointment to do Driving Test ( bring your Learners Licence, Drivers Licence Application form, the three passport size photographs, Examination fee receipt, and the vehicle to be used in the Driving Test).

The Test Reading Test (to prove if you can read) Road Code Test (to prove if you know road codes and signs).

Mechanical Test (if you are applying for a general drivers licence) Yard Test ( to prove how well you can start, drive and park a vehicle) If successful, the following will happen: Your Certificate of Competence will be forwarded at the end of the day (or the next business day) to the Tax Office of your choice.

You must visit the Tax Office where you will be required to pay the relevant drivers licence fee.
